I am an Environmental Health Officer who has worked within the Private Sector Housing field for over 15 years, and have a special interest in Houses in Multiple Occupation. Since 2004 I have been an active member of the National HMO Network steering group and have served as joint chair and, since 2008, as chair.
I am currently the HMO Team Manager at the London Borough of Newham, and have previously had the opportunity of working for a range of local authorities including large unitary authorities, and district councils, and have gained an appreciation of the challenges and opportunities that the HMO sector poses in different local contexts.
I am committed to improving the standards within HMOs through supporting both landlords and private sector housing practitioners through the National HMO Network’s conferences and networking opportunities. I have represented the National HMO Network on a number of consultative groups working on a national level, and have also contributed to a number of sub-regional and regional working groups within the fields of private sector housing and energy efficiency.
